About this item

Brass pendant light by Jo Hammerborg for Fog and morup, model "Nova"

Jo Hammerborg

Johannes Hammerborg was a Danish designer who was the head of design at Danish lighting company Fog and Morup. For Fog and Morup he designed around 60 different lighting objects. He is most famous for his copper lamps with black metal details. Some of those lamps like, pendants, desk lights, floor lamps and wall sconces have names referring to space object like Saturn (planet) or Juno (space probe). This is likely because his lamps have some resemblances with space in their design. The futuristic shapes and details were very modern for their time and still are up to today. This makes Jo Hammerborg one of the most recognized lighting designer of the Danish mid-century. His work will match perfectly with other design items of the same time like the dining chairs from Arne Jacobsen, table by Eero Saarinen or a lounge chair and sofa by Hans Wegner.
