Black Leatherette “High and Low” Lounge Chairs by Avanti, Dutch Design 1960’s

Pair of lounge chairs made of steel and black leatherette, designed by Avanti the Netherlands in the 1960’s.

The pair features two different versions often called “His and Hers”. But we just call it “High and Low” referring to the high and low back of the chairs. We completely re-upholstered the chairs with new black leatherette. The frame is made of steel and in good condition.

The chairs are made in the 1960’s, the same time Rob Parry made his famous Lotus chair and sofa. Are chairs by Avanti have many resemblances with the designs by Parry. The sleek and minimal metal frame and small wooden arm rests is something you often see with mid-century Dutch design.
